LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Senior quarterback Jabari Blake passed for 187 yards and three TDs, and ran for 102 yards and two more TDs, to help power Heritage to a 42-39 win over Lord Botetourt in the Class 3 state semifinals Saturday at Lynchburg City Stadium.

Blake's favorite target was senior Chris Megginson, who hauled in five catches for 159 yards and two scores.

Hunter Rice had a huge day for Lord Botetourt, rushing for 283 yards and three TDs on just 20 carries.

Heritage had won 11 straight coming in, Botetourt eight in a row. The Pioneers struck first, Jabari Blake hits Trae'Sean Hall, 7-yard score, 6-0 Heritage.

But the Cavaliers answered right back, Jake Dewease back of the end zone hauls in a Preston Martin TD pass, 7-6 Botetourt. Heritage regained the lead, Blake up top 52 yards to Chris Megginson, Pioneers took a 21-10 lead into the half.

Opening minutes of the third, Blake finds Megginson again and 10 does the rest, somehow shaking the tackle, keeping his balance and racing 41 yards, it's 28-10 Heritage.

Botetourt, though, STORMED BACK with three straight Hunter Rice TDs to take the lead opening seconds of the fourth, Rice ran for 283 yards.

Heritage, though, would respond. KJ Vaughan just powers his way in from 12 yards, then a few minutes later, Blake with some tough running of his own for another touchdown.

The Pioneers held on for the 42-39 win, they'll face Phoebus next Saturday at noon at Liberty University for the Class 3 state championship.
