Summary: Now in his fourth year as E.C. Glass head coach, Jeff Woody has helped revive a struggling program. After going 1-9 his first year, Woody followed it up with a 6-4 season his second year, then 8-and-4 and into the second round of the playoffs last year. He’s got lots of players back on both sides of the ball and an electric quarterback in junior DreSean Kendrick, son of E.C. Glass and Virginia Tech alum Andre Kendrick. Kendrick gives the Hilltoppers an added running threat from the quarterback position and he’s shown he can throw the ball as well. The Hilltoppers should be strong on defense as well. If Glass avoids the injury bug, this is a team that should be able to contend for a district championship. The September 21st game against Heritage at City Stadium should be quite a battle, especially after the Hilltoppers upset the Pioneers last year 14-12 in a defensive struggle to win the Little Brown Jug.
